How to create a custom templates in Office 2013?

Problem:

How to create a custom templates in Office 2013?

Solution:
The custom templates you created using an earlier version of Office are still there, but Office 2013 doesn’t show them by default. Instead when you open an Office 2013 program, you’ll see the Office.com templates. If you want to see your custom templates on the Personal tab when you start an Office program.

Browse to the following location to save you templates.

1.Click Start > Run, and then type %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates\ in the Open box.

2.Copy the address in the File Explorer address bar.

3.Click File > Options > Save, and then paste the address into the Default personal templates location box.

4. Save the template file as .dotm(Word Macro Enabled Template).

Make sure you do this for each Office program. After you’ve updated your template location, any new templates will be saved to this default location.

If this will not work try the below fixit.

Outlook error" Search doesn’t display any results at all while searching for emails."

Problem:
Outlook error" Search doesn’t display any results at all while searching for emails."

Solution:

There are a couple of levels at which Instant Search in Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 can break. You can troubleshoot Instant Search in the mentioned order in this article.
Marked for indexing .

First let us check if the pst-file or mailbox has been marked to be indexed.
Outlook 2007
Tools-> Options-> Search Options… In the Indexing section you can select which data file to index.

Outlook 2010
File-> Options-> section Search-> button Indexing Options…-> button Modify-> expand Microsoft Outlook

Make sure that your pst-file or mailbox is displayed and selected. If it is not listed, you’ll have to recreate your mail profile.

Outlook 2013
File-> Options-> section Search-> button Indexing Options…-> button Modify

Check for pst-file corruptions If your pst-file has been marked but Outlook doesn’t display the correct results, it usually means there is some corruption going on in your pst-file. In order to fix these you should scan your pst-file for errors with scanpst.exe. You can find this file in the same folder as outlook.exe or use OutlookTools (free!) to locate it for you.
Once repaired, open Outlook and leave it idle for some time. To see if everything has been indexed now use:

Outlook 2007

Tools-> Instant Search-> Indexing Status

Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013

Click in the Search field in order to make the Search Tools tab visible in the Ribbon. Here click the Search Tools button and select the Indexing Status…
When you have a big pst-file or mailbox, this indexing could take some time but if the number of items left to index doesn’t change after leaving your computer idle for over 30 minutes, something is wrong still.

Disable and then re-enable the file for indexing

Go back to the Search Options and deselect the data file that is giving you issues. Close Outlook and wait for about 5 minutes and also verify in Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) that on the Processes tab the outlook.exe process actually quits. You might get a lot of disk activity; this is the Search Indexer removing the indexed items from the Index.
After this open Outlook again and go back to the Search Option and select the pst-file we just deselected. Leave the computer idle again and see if it will eventually reach the status of “0 items remaining.”

Rebuild the index

If it doesn’t, it might be that the Index itself has been damaged. In order to reset this, go to Control Panel-> Indexing Options-> Advanced-> button Rebuild
(Type “Indexing” in the Search field of Control Panel to quickly locate the applet.)

This will rebuild the entire Index from scratch and depending on the amount of documents to be indexed, this could take quite long and degrade your system’s performance while the Indexer is still busy. I would recommend to have it rebuild itself overnight.

Advanced Indexing Options in Windows 7.
Reset the index If it still doesn’t work press the “Restore Defaults” button that you can find under the Rebuild button in Windows Vista. The difference with Rebuild is that, aside from resetting all customized indexing settings like indexing location and file type selections, it will recreate the actual Index files as well.
In Windows 7 and Windows 8, you can press the blue “Troubleshoot search and indexing” link. This will start a troubleshooting wizard in which you can select the option “E-mail doesn’t appear in search results”.

Reinstall the Windows Search feature

If your installation of Windows Search got damaged, you can remove and reinstall it in the following way.
1.Control Panel-> Programs-> Turn Windows features on or off
2.Deselect: Windows Search
3.Press OK and wait until the installer is finished.
4.Reboot your computer.
5.Repeat the above steps to enable it again.
6.Check Event Viewer and post in the newsgroups

Still running into indexing issues? It might be good to take a look in the Event Viewer and look for any errors logged by the “Search” or “Microsoft Outlook”.
If the error logged there is not helpful to you, post it in the Outlook forums together with your configuration details in order to help you troubleshoot it.

Outlook error "Password prompt in outlook 2010/2007."

Problem:

Outlook error "Password prompt in outlook 2010/2007."

Solution:

Browse to;
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Protect

Make a backup of this folder while all other programs are closed and then delete that folder. See if your passwords are remembered now. You might need to enter them a single time when you start Outlook for the first time after this.

To quickly access the folder, you can type or paste the above path in the Address Bar of Windows Explorer.

Note 1: You can also use this solution when Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail doesn’t remember your password.

Outlook 365 Error:"Can't set up Outlook 365 Exchange email account".

Problem:

Outlook 365 Error: "Can't set up Outlook 365 Exchange email account"

Cause:
1.If you are trying to configure your outlook 2013 with auto discover mode(Auto).
2.If the previous version of outlook had some settings that new outlook 2013 doesn't support.
3.If the Existing outlook profile do not recognize the default settings.

Solution:
1.Configuring Outlook Anywhere

In most cases, when your company has made Outlook Anywhere available to you, Auto Account Setup will be able to find the correct settings for you via AutoDiscover. In that case, all you have to do is provide your name, email address and password, wait until Outlook locates your settings and you are good to go.

Note: In some cases, you might get prompted for your username and password again in a separate dialog. Depending on the configuration of the Exchange infrastructure and domain of your company, you may need to change the username in that password dialog from your email address to the domain\username format. Ask your Exchange administrator for more support if that isn’t accepted either.

If you are setting up your Exchange account manually, click the More Settings… button, select the Connection tab, enable the option “Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP” and then click on the Exchange Proxy Settings… button. You can now fill out the Outlook Anywhere settings.

If you do not know if Outlook Anywhere has been made available to you or which settings are required, you’ll have to ask your Exchange administrator or IT support department.

2. Creating a new profile for outlook 2013.
If you are not able to get rid of the error message, Try to create a new outlook 2013 profile.

1.Open control panel.
2.Locate Mail icon in control panel.
3.Click on profiles.
4.Create a new profile for outlook 2013.
5.Make the new profile default for outlook.
6.Configure the email account as per the settings you have for it.

How to troubleshoot crashes in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.

Problem :
How to troubleshoot crashes in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013

Symptoms:
Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Microsoft Outlook 2013 may crash when you start Outlook, when you perform various tasks in Outlook, or when you close Outlook. This can be very frustrating, because the problem usually occurs randomly. This random behavior makes it difficult to determine the cause of the crash.

Cause:
Outlook can crash or even disappear after you double click on the icon to open it due some registry messup or some other technical glitch after using some third party addins.

Solution:
Important This article contains information about how to modify the registry. Make sure that you back up the registry before you modify it Make sure that you know how to restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Start Outlook in safe mode
When you start Outlook in safe mode, many of the customizations that you have made to Outlook are not loaded. Instead, these settings are replaced temporarily by the default settings. Additionally, COM add-ins and Exchange Client Extensions are not loaded. This behavior reduces the number of dynamic-link libraries (DLL) that interact with Outlook and with your data.

To start Outlook in safe mode, use the /safe command-line switch. To determine whether you are running Outlook in safe mode, view the title bar of Outlook.

You may also see the following prompt when you restart Outlook after a crash:
Outlook failed to start correctly last time. Starting Outlook in safe mode
will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start
the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode.

Do you want to start Outlook in safe mode?

If you click Yes at this prompt, Outlook starts in safe mode.

Disable COM add-ins

a. On the File tab, click the Options category.

b. Click Add-ins.

c. Select COM Add-ins from the Manage box, and then click Go.

d. Click to clear the check box for any add-ins that you want to disable.

e. Click OK, and then restart Outlook.

If you cannot start Outlook so that you can disable COM add-ins by using the Outlook interface, you can disable the COM add-ins by using Registry Editor. To do this, follow these steps:

Note If you can use the Outlook interface to disable COM add-ins, you should skip these steps and go to the "Verify that all third-party DLLs are removed from the Outlook process" section.
a. Start Registry Editor.
b. Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

c. Rename every subkey under the \Addins key by appending –disabled to the subkey name. For example, if a subkey is called AccessAddin.DC, rename this subkey to AccessAddin.DC-disabled.
d. Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
e. Rename every subkey under the \Addins key by appending –disabled to the subkey name. For example, if a subkey is called UCAddin.UCAddin.1, rename the subkey to UCAddin.UCAddin.1-disabled.
f. Start Outlook.

How to send email force fully using a default account in outlook.

Problem:

How to send email force fully using a default account in outlook.

Solution:

People who use multiple accounts and frequently (accidentally) send using the wrong account, especially if they are sending sensitive documents, as it will almost eliminate accidentally sending email from the wrong account.

In Outlook 2010, the registry key is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\outlook\options
Value Name: ForceAccountSelection
Value type: REG_DWORD: 1 for force, 0 to disable.

In Outlook 2013, the registry key is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\outlook\options
Value Name: ForceAccountSelection
Value type: REG_DWORD: 1 for force, 0 to disable.

Notes: You need to create the path if it does not exist.
The value type is the same for both 32-bit and 64-bit Outlook.

Outlook 2013 / 2010 does not honor default account while send emails.

Problem:

Outlook 2013 / 2010 does not honor default account while send emails.

Solution:

When you have multiple accounts and an IMAP account in Outlook 2010/2013 and you change the default sending account to the IMAP account, you may experience the following issues:
When you click a mailto link from a browser or from Outlook, the default sending account is the Exchange Server account instead of the IMAP account.
When you create a new email message, the Exchange Server account is selected instead of the IMAP account.

Out of the box, Outlook 2010 SP1 and Outlook 2013 use the default account for Send to commands but not for new messages created while viewing a pst file (when a POP account is assigned to the pst file), unless you set a registry value to always force the use of the default account.

To force all new messages to use the default email account, regardless of which pst file you are viewing, browse to the following registry subkey.

In Outlook 2010 and add a DWORD named NewItemsUseDefaultSendingAccount:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
DWORD value: NewItemsUseDefaultSendingAccount
Value: 1

In Outlook 2013, the key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
DWORD value: NewItemsUseDefaultSendingAccount
Value: 1

Note: To open Registry Windows Press Window key+R and type--Regedit and press enter.

Workaround:

Check this registry entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\ProofingTools\1.0\Override\en-US

If it exists, delete or rename it; if it doesn’t exist, create it.

You can also delete the following key, but if you do, you’ll need to reconfigure your spelling options. (Export it before deleting it.)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Microsoft\Shared Tools\ProofingTools\1.0\Office\OutlookSpellingOptions

Yes, that makes no sense at all (and I’m not sure why the key is created to begin with), but many users report removing it fixes their problem and others say if it doesn’t exist then creating it fixes the problem. Go

Select the entire message

Outlook 2010: Review ribbon > Language menu > Set Proofing language command
Outlook 2007: Expand the Spelling button, choose Set Language.
Clear the Do not spell check box.

Go into File / Options / Mail / [Spelling and AutoCorrect] / Proofing / {Uncheck “Use contextual spelling”].

Contextual spelling is enabled by default if your computer has sufficient ram (more than 1 GB). It’s part of the process that checks to see if words are used in context. It underlines the misused words in this sentence in blue: “I went their too pick up you’re kids.”

Change the Default Location for Saving Internet Explorer Favorites.??

Problem:

Change the Default Location for Saving Internet Explorer Favorites

Solution:
By default, in Windows 7, Favorites for Internet Explorer are saved in the C:\Users\[username]\Favorites folder. However, you may want them in a different location so they are easier to backup or even on a drive where Windows is not installed.
This article shows you how to change the location of the Internet Explorer Favorites folder in two ways: by changing the properties of the Favorites folder and by making changes to the registry.

Changing the Favorites Folder Properties

To change the location of the Favorites folder by changing its properties, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the current location of the Favorites folder (most likely the default, C:\Users\[username]\Favorites). Right-click on the Favorites folder in the right pane and select Properties from the popup menu.

Click the Location tab on the Properties dialog box. Then, click Move.
NOTE: You don’t have to use the Move button to change the location of the Favorites folder. You can type the full path to the new location of the Favorites folder in the edit box.

If you used the Move button to change the location, select a new location on the Select a Destination dialog box and click Select Folder.

Click OK to accept your change and close the Properties dialog box.

If you typed in a full path, but haven’t created the folder yet, the following dialog box displays. Click Yes to create the folder.

You can automatically move all the subfolders and links from the old Favorites location to the new location. The following dialog box displays asking if you want to move all the files. It is recommended that you do move all the files, so click Yes.

All the folders and files that were in the original Favorites location are not located in the new location.

NOTE: If you used a name for the new folder other than Favorites, the name “Favorites” still displays in Windows Explorer. However, if you click in the address bar, you’ll notice that the name you assigned is still there as the path to the folder.

Changing the Registry

To change the location of the Favorites folder using the registry, enter “regedit” (without the quotes) in the Search box on the Start menu. When the results display, click regedit.exe or press Enter when it’s highlighted.

If the User Account Control dialog box displays, click Yes to continue.
NOTE: You may not see this dialog box, depending on your User Account Control settings.

Navigate to the following key on the left.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Double-click the Favorites item on the right.

Enter the full path to the new location for the Favorites folder in the Value data edit box and click OK.
NOTE: If you use the registry method to change the location of the Favorites folder, you must manually create the new folder.

Next, navigate to the following key on the left.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Double-click the Favorites item on the right, and enter the full path for the new location for the Favorites folder in the Value data edit box. Click OK.

Close the Registry Editor by selecting Exit from the File menu.

NOTE: When using the registry method to change the location of the Favorites folder, you must manually copy the subfolders and files from the original Favorites location to the new location.
